The intent of the “I Am Grateful” affirmation by Michio Kushi is to remind us that we are nothing and that all of our experiences, including and especially our greatest and most difficult challenges and struggles, are simply part of this great gift of life that has been given to us. With this spirit of unconditional and infinite gratitude and humbleness for all then nothing can deter us from maintaining a profoundly spiritual, unwavering and eternal happiness. Repeat this affirmation as often as needed.
Now “I Am Grateful”…
I am grateful to my parents and ancestors.
I am grateful to my spouse and partner.
I am grateful to my children and offspring.
I am grateful to my brothers and sisters.
I am grateful to all people and all beings.
I am grateful to the food I am given.
I am grateful to the nature of which I am within.
I am grateful to the universe in which I am manifested.
I am grateful to all phenomena and all beings.
I am grateful to my sickness.
I am grateful to my ignorance.
I am grateful to my enemy.
I am grateful to my difficulties.
I am grateful to my suffering.
I am nothing, yet I have been given all.
Therefore I am rich, equal to the whole universe.
